Company Origins & Structure


Founded in 1980 in Zanzibar as Turky’s Group of Companies Limited, originally a tailoring business by brothers Salim, Murtadha, Yunus & their father Hassan Turky.


Rebranded now as VIGOR Group of Companies, it operates as a diversified conglomerate headquartered in Stone Town, Zanzibar with 500–1,000 employees.


Today led by Chairman Toufiq Salim Turky and CEO Abdallah Salim Turky, with a wide-scale presence across Zanzibar, Mainland Tanzania, and Comoros.

1. Services


Health care: Owns a multi-specialty hospital in Stone Town (opened March 2015).


Hospitality: Partners with Golden Tulip Hotels in Zanzibar and Comoros.


Real estate: Offers furnished apartments and luxury villas.


Automobile: Operates through Habib Euro Diesel, offering diesel system solutions.


2. Manufacturing


Bottle packaging operations (e.g., Zainab Bottlers).


Cement plant (Kazimzumbwi, Kisarawe district).


Packaging lines for detergent, soap, gas cylinders.


Produces iron sheets, gypsum boards, cement, tiles, nails, and more.


3. Merchandise & FMCG


“Zenj General Merchandise” imports and stocks food items, household & construction materials, distributing across Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania.


4. Logistics & Maritime


Shipping and port services, including container scanning operations in Comoros via Vigor Financial Service SARL.


5. Energy


Provides renewable energy solutions: solar and wind, including a 5 MW hybrid solar–battery plant in Anjouan (Comoros) for SONELÉC.


6. IT & Communications


Developed POS systems and infrastructure for Comoros' Ministry of Finance for efficient tax collection .
