Overview & History

Traces its roots to 1953, founded by colonial authorities as a local government training school. In 1972, it became the Institute of Development Management (IDM–Mzumbe). It achieved full university status in 2001 by Act of Parliament and was further chartered in 2007.

Main Campus (Morogoro) sits about 20–22 km southwest of Morogoro town, nestled near the Uluguru Mountains, and is roughly 220 km from Dar es Salaam.
Dar es Salaam Campus College (DCC) focuses on postgraduate and professional programs.
Mbeya Campus College serves the southern region.
Student life includes on‑campus hostels, a health centre, library, canteen services, sports facilities, banking, postal, and a bookshop .
