Marine and Coastal Community Conservation Zanzibar (MCCC LTD), established in 2010, is a leading organization dedicated to helping communities in Tanzania’s coastal areas develop strong and effective local resource management systems. These systems are designed to support livelihoods and sustain marine ecosystems.

MCCC LTD, also known as Mwambao, facilitates a community-based network across various coastal areas, enabling local communities to learn from each other and engage in collective action on shared interests, such as influencing policy. Working with key international partners, Mwambao focuses on improving reef ecosystem health, enhancing the sustainability of key fisheries, and improving local well-being by including fishers in the management of their fishing grounds and providing opportunities for other livelihood activities.
