Services and Structure
Consular and Visa Services
Visa applications are managed by TLScontact in Dar es Salaam. Applicants must schedule appointments through the TLScontact center.
Application submission hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–14:30
Passport collection hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30
The consular section also provides services to French nationals such as passport renewals, civil status registration, attestations, and assistance in emergencies.
Diplomatic Representation
The embassy represents France in all matters related to diplomacy, politics, economy, culture, and cooperation with the Tanzanian government.
The current ambassador is Nabil Hajlaoui.
The embassy collaborates closely with French public institutions and agencies, such as the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and PROPARCO, on development projects across Tanzania.
Cooperation and Cultural Relations
France supports Tanzania through initiatives in sectors such as energy, water, transport, education, and healthcare.
The embassy also promotes French culture and language through educational programs and partnerships.
A Campus France office operates at the University of Dar es Salaam to help Tanzanian students pursue studies in France.
Security Note
In 2021, a shooting incident occurred near the embassy, resulting in several casualties. Security around the premises has since been reinforced.
