JOB ADVERTISEMENTJob Title: Health and Safety ExpertPosition: 1 PostJob Location: MwanzaPosition ObjectiveTo actualize Health and safety policy and procedures in order to ensure that none get hurt while working for or with the Company. In his/her function as Health and Safety Expert, he/she has the authority to implement changes to conditions that create unacceptable high-risk levels. He/she has the ultimate sanction to interrupt an operation should those high-risk conditions prevail. To implement an integrated Health, safety, and environmental management system in the companyKey Responsibilities
- To promote and ensure, through their internal resources that relevant to Health and Safety standards are applied.
- To enforce the observance of all relevant Health and safety regulations, aiming at continuous improvement and Health and safety awareness.
- To correct in a timely manner any deficiencies, non-compliance, and unsafe conditions.
- To participate in incident investigation teams, depending on the nature of the incident.
- To hold regular Health and Safety meetings.
- To take part in safety inspections and audits with location management, line supervision and safety staff.
- To monitor Health and Safety performance, keep records and participate in safety audits
- Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements of the projects
- Any other work that may be assigned by The Company
- Diploma in Health or Safety Science or related disciplines
- Be able to develop, review, update and implement Environmental procedures and plans as per the requirement of the project.
- Be able to present innovative solution to environmental issues.
- Collect data and analyze environmental aspects and impacts associated with project activities and be able to offer practical solution
- Guide management on how to efficiently minimize generation of waste and effective means of disposing it off.
- Be well versed with local and International Environmental laws and Regulations
- Make recommendations to maintain and improve environmental performance.
- Be responsible for providing technical help and support for eradicating various environmental problems
- Understand environmental audits and must be able to generate report independently.
- Possess the ability to effectively prepare investigation reports and suggest actions
- Be able to establish and maintain communication channels with stakeholder for their environmental concerns
- Degree in Environmental Engineering or related disciplines
