Job Vacancies Announcement: Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS)

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility for the maintenance and development of the trunk and regional roads network in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible for conducting axle load control operations using weighbridge scales.

TANROADS Coast, on behalf of the Chief Executive, is looking for qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant posts available for two (2) projects:

1. Upgrading of Utete - Nyamwage (33.7km) to Bitumen Standard

   • Contract No: TRD/HQ/1036/2022/23

2. Construction of Mramre Bridge (81m) and its Approach Roads (3.0km) to Bitumen Standard

TANROADS intends to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill vacant posts on specified employment contracts for the road project in the following fields:

1. Highway Engineer (1 Post)
The Highway Engineer shall be fully responsible for supervising the construction in accordance with the contract. Duties include supervising construction works to ensure the best practices are followed, and the final product meets or exceeds the specified standards.

• Qualifications:
  • Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Highway Engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is an added advantage.
  • Must have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in road design and construction, including two (2) projects of similar magnitude in the last seven years.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Sub-Saharan countries.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

2. Materials Engineer (1 Post)
The Materials Engineer will be responsible for conducting and supervising materials investigations and ensuring optimal design and construction standards for pavement structures.

• Qualifications:
  • Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Pavement/Materials Engineering.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in pavement materials related to road works.
  • Must have served in at least two (2) road projects of similar magnitude.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

3. Structure/Bridge Engineer (2 Posts)
The Structure/Bridge Engineer will be responsible for the structural analysis, design, and assessment of bridges and drainage structures along the project road.

• Qualifications:
  • Must be a registered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering, Bridge Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in Bridge Design and construction.
  • Must have experience in road works of similar nature.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

4. CAD Technician (1 Post)
The CAD Technician must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Land Surveying, or equivalent. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in related fields and hold a Certificate in CAD.

• Qualifications:
  • Must prepare drawings and sketches in collaboration with other staff related to road or bridge design.
  • Liaise with the Highway Engineer for drawing improvements on road/bridge designs.

5. Office Secretary (1 Post)
The Office Secretary must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent from a recognized institution, with at least five (5) years of working experience.

• Responsibilities:
  • Maintain an office diary, prepare correspondence reports, facilitate site meetings, and attend visitors and phone calls.

Terms of Service:

• Specified contract for 1 year.
