About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, service-driven Assistant Camp Manager to join the management team at a luxury five-star safari camp in the Serengeti. The role involves supporting the Camp Manager in delivering an exceptional guest experience, maintaining world-class hospitality standards, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across all departments. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with proven luxury hospitality or safari lodge management experience, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for nature and guest service.


Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Camp Manager will provide comprehensive support to the Camp Manager in overseeing all aspects of the lodge’s operations:

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Maintain the highest level of personalized guest service, ensuring every stay exceeds expectations.
  • Coordinate guest activities and experiences in partnership with guides and rangers.
  • Represent the Camp Manager and assume full operational oversight in their absence.

Operations, Maintenance, and Logistics

  • Assist the Camp Manager in daily operations across all departments: Front of House, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage (F&B), Maintenance, and Guest Activities.
  • Oversee property appearance, cleanliness, and maintenance standards.
  • Manage inventory, stock control, and procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Leadership and Administration

  • Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver professional, efficient, and friendly service.
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and administrative reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory role at a luxury lodge, camp, or 5-star hotel.
  • Familiarity with bush or remote camp operations is highly desirable.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (fluent English required; Swahili an advantage).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with property management systems and MS Office.
  • Must be willing to live on-site in a remote setting.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
